Ralf Kosyra Success Story

Ralf Kosyra Success Story

Ralf Kosyra is an amateur game developer and designing.

Tell me about yourself?

I am an amateur game developer, designing and programming games in my free time. Professionally, I am a semiconductor R&D engineer with a physics and data analytics background. I am 43 years old.

Tell me about your work experience?

I started developing games as a hobby in spring 2020. As a Python programmer, I started using the Pygame-framework to develop 2D games. So far I released a space-shooter (Last Strike – Attack of the drones) on itch.io. I am currently working on Dark Journey, a Fantasy platformer with some RPG elements.

At what age did you start doing work and develop a love for artwork?

How did you develop a fondness for artwork?

As a child, I loved playing video games (and still do so). I always wanted to create my games, so I just started to do so.

Did you study artwork? If yes then from where?

No, I studied physics and I do not do any arts. In-game dev, I do the concept design, level-design and programming, while I buy all the graphics, music and sound effect.

From where did you learn this?

Self-taught, mainly by web tutorials and a lot of trying and failing.

Why did you choose art as a profession?

I am not a professional. I do game development as a hobby because I love games and I love creating things.

Who are your biggest influences?

A lot of 8/16 bit games from the late 80s/early 90s on Sega Master System, Genesis, NES and SNES.
– Wonderboy Series
– Castlevania
– Demon’s Crest
– R-Type
– Nemesis/Gradius
– Phantasy Star

How do you become a successful artist?

I am not yet successful. After 2nd release, I plan to enhance my social media marketing to get connected to more gamers. And of course, I hope Game1News helps me to connect to more gamers.

What makes you good and different from others?

I only create what I am passionate about.

What does your art represent and does art mean to you?

My games are the fulfilment of my childhood dreams.
