Teamfight Tactics (TFT)
Teamfight Tactics (TFT) is presented by Riot Games.
About the game
Based on Dota Auto Chess, a mod for Dota 2, the game centers around eight players who construct teams to fight one another and be the last player standing. The battlefield consists of hexagons, where players can strategically place units on the hexagons on their side of the game board between rounds. Each round, a short battle automatically commences, with two players matched randomly for that round, or else paired against computer-controlled enemies. In the rounds against computer-controlled enemies, each enemy has a chance to drop gold, units, or items that the player can use. Health lost from round losses is calculated with a combination of set damage per round, and how many units an opponent had still alive.
Teamfight Tactics (TFT) is available for iOS, Android, Microsoft Windows.
Tips and tricks:
The following are tips and tricks for the smooth gameplay.
- Collect items:
Items are extremely important as they play a key role in making your champion stronger, faster, and healthier during the combat phase. Items dropped are indicated with a blue orb on the map, so be sure to tap on the location to pick them up! Use the correct items for a certain champion! For example, any items that deal tons of damage you should consider giving to your damage-dealing champion. Items can be used during the round if your champion is alive during the combat phase.
- Positioning is key
Each game is different, so you’ll need to learn to adapt. But in general, having your bulky units with the most health on the front line is best, while your squishier damage dealers stay back. You’ll be able to see the attack range of each champion in their stat block, so make sure you don’t have your melee units trapped behind ranged units.
Pay attention to what’s happening during the game. For example, they might have Infiltrators that will jump to your backline, or they might have a Blitz crank which is hooking your star unit into their team where you don’t want them to be. Always make sure you’re adjusting accordingly.
- Touch the Wall
The teamfight Tactics Meta is constantly evolving. The game mode is still very new, after all! And Riot Games has been extremely good about updating it at a rapid clip. But one major tenet from League of Legends itself still holds water in TFT: Stuns are very, very important. More broadly, “disables” of any kind (like slowing attack speed or silencing) are incredibly good. Any lineup should absolutely have at least one champion (or class of champions: like Glacier) with a good disable.
