Zane Success Story
Zane a pixel artist!
I’m Zane, a pixel artist in the USA and am 14. Most of my day is spent on doing spriting or other mundane tasks. The quarantine has positively impacted my life because of all the time it’s given me to focus on art.
At what age did you start doing work and developed love for digital artwork?
I started doing pixel art at around 11, I remember the exact date I started. It was 9/13/17 and a couple of months later was when I started getting into it, it gave me creative freedom and was a great way to blow off steam from the stress of school. I stuck to pixel art because it was a very precise medium for art.

Did you study artwork? If yes then from where?
I never studied art, all of it was self-taught and I got some feedback from some of the communities I joined.
Why did you choose digital artwork as a profession?
I wouldn’t say I joined digital art as a profession, I’m only 14 but it’s a goal for me because I’ve already gotten this good in 3 years, imagine my skill 4 years from now. But like I said, I’m only 14 I still have a lot of things to do because I become 18.
Tell me about your work experience?
I started as a hobbyist and wanted to make pixel art for custom computer backgrounds and profile pictures and it eventually evolved into something to do during my free time because I found it extremely fun. Over the years I just kept on getting better and better and eventually decided this is something I want to pursue as a career or at least something I can do in the future for a little extra money.
Who are your biggest influences?
I’ve never really had large influences on my art but some people in pixel joint blow my mind and one day I want to be as good as them, maybe even better.
How do you become a successful artist?
My tips for becoming successful at art is to join a bunch of communities that will give you well-informed feedback that will help you grow as an artist, I wish I joined a community earlier because my art would’ve become much better.
What makes you a good graphic designer and different from others?
What makes me different from other artists is how fast I can improve, I constantly am striving to get better every day and I have an extremely creative drive to get there.
